Phase One

Phase I of therapy occurs when the patient is still a child and has all their primary teeth. The Phase I treatment plan may include preventive, interceptive, or modifying therapy. Orthodontic appliances can be used to prevent a problem, rectify an issue that has already occurred, or assist direct jawbone growth. With Phase I therapy, various topics with teeth alignment, gums, jaws, and facial abnormalities can be resolved.

Common Therapies Used:

  • Specialized retainers
  • Headgear
  • Limited Phase of braces (selected teeth)
  • Space maintainers
  • Functional appliances
  • Expansion appliances

Phase Two

In most cases, Phase II therapy is standard orthodontic care. Once the patient's permanent teeth have sprouted, braces are placed on them. The braces complete correcting the patient's jaw and straightening the permanent teeth. Patients who have completed Phases I and II of two-phase orthodontic treatment are more likely to get long-term outcomes. Our objective for your two-phase orthodontic treatment is for you to have correctly aligned teeth with optimal jaw function and a beautiful smile!
